Isaac’s Tea Trail

Alston and the Nent Valley is a section on the popular Isaac's Tea Trail, a 37 miles long distance footpath. This is the perfect way to enjoy the best a tranquil part of the North Country of heather capped moors and tumbling streams. The trail runs almost by the doorstep at Lovelady and is mid way from the start in Allendale in Northumberland.
As the walk is circular you can make you start and finish from Lovelady Shield. If you don't want the challenge of the full distance, easier shorter sections can be followed down the Nent Valley to either Alston or Nenthead.
The route is fully way marked throughout and can be found on Ordnance Survey maps. The trail is named after Isaac Holden, an itinerant tea seller, whose family hailed from Alston Moor and follows in his footsteps where he plied his trade.
